John Carpenter Directs Again! Teases ‘Suburban Screams’, ‘The Thing 2’, ‘Lost Themes IV’
Legendary filmmaker John Carpenter has revealed his newest directorial project, teasing a new series called John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams, while also confirming a new album of original music is in the works, and even hinting at the possibility of a sequel to his groundbreaking horror masterpiece The Thing, during a recent Q&A panel at Texas Frightmare Weekend.
When questioned by a fan if he would ever direct again, Carpenter surprised everyone by answering that he has in fact already direct again. He said, “I just finished directing, remotely, a TV series called Suburban Screams – John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams… It was filmed in Prague, and I sat on my couch and directed it. It was awesome.”
During the same Q&A panel, when asked about the ambiguous ending of The Thing, specifically which character was actually infected by the alien, Carpenter said he could not answer that question, but for a very good reason. “I cannot answer you,” he said. “I am sworn to secrecy, because there may be – I don’t know if there will be – there may be a Thing 2.”
Carpenter also confirmed during the Texas Frightmare panel that he and his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies are currently working on new music for an upcoming Lost Themes IV album.
