Bidding War Ongoing for ‘Halloween’ TV Rights

On the eve of this weekend’s massive Halloween: 45 Years of Terror franchise reunion convention in Pasadena, we have more exciting news about the future of Michael Myers.

As previously reported earlier this week, Malek Akkad’s Trancas International Films is currently actively shopping the rights to the Halloween franchise around Hollywood, and considering pitches amid what Bloody Disgusting has called “massive bidding war” being waged right now specifically for television rights, with several different parties reportedly interested and vying for the chance to bring Michael Myers back to life in a small screen series.

Following the report’s initial publication on Michael Myers Monday, Sept. 25, BD updated their article the following day with new details that “A24 and Miramax are the two main parties currently in battle for TV rights,” and that “A24 is currently leading the charge”.

According to the report, “Everything is on the table at this time,” as Trancas is open to both film and television projects, and they’re currently taking offers from studios and streamers alike.

Trancas International Films is the current rights holder for TV, and Miramax is one of the parties bidding on the property, while Miramax also currently co-owns film rights with Trancas, and would be involved in any future film projects.

A24 was recently announced to be producing a Friday the 13th/Jason Voorhees prequel series for Universal and Peacock, to be called Crystal Lake.
