Kevin Williamson and Adrienne King Join ‘Friday the 13th’ Prequel Series ‘Crystal Lake’
More exciting news broke on the recently announced Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake last night, fittingly on Friday the 13th.
The new series is currently in development from Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) and A24 (Midsommar, X) for Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, and it has just been revealed that Kevin Williamson (Scream) and Adrienne King,, star of the original 1980 Friday the 13th, are also coming to Crystal Lake.
At a Friday the 13th Part III screening last night, Fuller offered an update on the project, announcing that Kevin Williamson will be writing an episode and additionally that Adrienne King will have a recurring role!
Eric Goldman tweets from the Friday night screening, “They officially start writing in 2 weeks. It will have two scores to choose from – a modern one and a classic Manfredini one. Kevin Williamson is writing an episode. Adrienne King will have a recurring role.”
“Fuller has pitched four seasons for Crystal Lake. Only one officially ordered so far though he notes Peacock would have to pay a pretty hefty penalty if they didn’t order a Season 2,” Goldman’s thread continues. “Asked if he can confirm Pamela’s role in the Crystal Lake series, Fuller replied “We’re honestly going to be covering it all. The series is covering the life and times of these two characters” (presumably referring to Pamela and Jason Voorhees).

The show will be written by Fuller, who will also serve as an executive producer and showrunner, with the series produced under the A24 banner, as first reported by Variety, where the project is described only as an “expanded prequel”. Victor Miller, who wrote the original 1980 film in the franchise, will also executive produce along with Marc Toberoff, Rob Barsamian, and A24.
According to Variety, the project has access to all of the other elements from the films throughout the franchise.
This means that an adult Jason Voorhees, who did not appear in Miller’s original script and later debuted on screen in Part 2, first putting on the infamous hockey mask in Part 3, could appear in the new series at some point.
