Jamie Lee Curtis Promises More of ’78 Cast Coming to ‘Halloween Kills’
Following Friday’s announcement that Kyle Richards will reprise her role of Lindsey Wallace from John Carpenter’s original 1978 Halloween, in the upcoming sequel Halloween Kills., this evening co-star Jamie Lee Curtis took to social media to reveal that many more 1978 characters and cast members will also be returning.
Yesterday (8/30/19), Richards herself posted a photo of her and Curtis on the set of the original Halloween alongside a shot of the two of them last year’s Halloween (2018) premiere, with caption, “It’s true. I am beyond honored and thrilled to be a part of #HalloweenKills and reprising my role as Lindsey Wallace. Thank you David Gordon Green, Blumhouse, Universal, Jamie Lee Curtis, Malek Akkad, Danny McBride. I have always been so proud of to have been a part of Halloween. Bringing Lindsey back is very exciting! #HalloweenKills2020”
Today (8/31/19), Curtis posted those same two images with the caption, “Completing the circle. THRILLED to confirm that Kyle Richards is coming back to the Halloween movie family where she belongs. She will join MANY original characters and their performers. Can’t wait for you to see!” You can see both posts below.
This seems to confirm Tom Atkins’ recent statement that Charles Cyphers will be in Halloween Kills.
Of Richards’ return, Halloween franchise producer Malek Akkad says, “We couldn’t be happier, and are so excited that Kyle is coming home to her Halloween roots.”
Kyle Richards (read our interview here), of course, first appeared in John Carpenter’s original 1978 Halloween as Lindsey Wallace, who is one of the survivors of Michael Myers’ attack.
This stunning announcement of Kyle Richards joining the cast follows news earlier this week that Anthony Michael Hall will play Tommy Doyle the new film.
Halloween Kills will begin filming on Michael Myers Monday, Sept. 16 in Wilmington, North Carolina. It is filming under the working production title “Mob Rules”, which is somewhat fitting considering that is also the title of Black Sabbath’s second album with their second lead singer, Ronnie James Dio.
Halloween Kills, is set for theatrical release on Friday, October 16th, 2020, with David Gordon Green returning to direct from a script he co-wrote with returning collaborator Danny McBride and newcomer Scott Teems.
Halloween Ends, intended as the finale of the saga, will be released on Friday, October 15th, 2021. Green will direct as well, from a script he co-wrote with McBride and writers new to the series, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier.
Based on characters created by series originator John Carpenter and Debra Hill, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends will be produced by Malek Akkad, Jason Blum, and Bill Block. Green, McBride, Carpenter, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson, and Ryan Freimann will serve as executive producers, with Ryan Turek overseeing both projects for Blumhouse.
Judy Greer, Andi Matichak are also expected to reprise their respective roles as Laurie’s daughter and granddaughter, and James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle will continue their collaboration in portraying Michael Myers in the new films.
