‘Candy Corn’ to Screen at 2019 Halloween International Film Festival

The 4th Annual Halloween International Film Festival returns to Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, October 3-5, 2019, and earlier this week we announced this year’s lineup of over 40 films from around the world, including a special theatrical screening of Candy Corn.

In addition to 36 Official Selections, we are also excited to present special invitational Showcase Selections, including the highly anticipated new feature film Candy Corn, starring horror icons P.J. Soles (Halloween, Carrie), Tony Todd (Candyman, Final Destination), and Courtney Gaines (Children of the Corn), with Pancho Moler (31, 3 From Hell) as Dr. Death. This throwback slasher introduces a new Halloween killer, fueled by vengeance, in the fatefully wronged Jacob Atkins.

The official synopsis: It’s the eve of Halloween in Grove Hill, Ohio. A traveling carnival is in town for the weekend and local outcast, Jacob Atkins, has been hired as one of the freaks in the event’s main attraction, “Dr. Death’s Side Show Spook House Spectacular”. Meanwhile, a group of local bullies are planning their annual public hazing of Jacob, but this year things go too far.

The makeup effects team includes Justin Mabry (sculptor of the Michael Myers mask in Halloween 2018 and co-owner of Trick or Treat Studios), Chris Gallaher (Vice, Fear the Walking Dead, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Passion of the Christ), and Erik Porn (Pineapple Express, Scream Queens, American Horror Story).

From writer/director Josh Hasty (Honeyspider), you can see the official trailer and poster below.

Candy Corn will be the closing film of the 2019 Halloween Film Festival, screening on Saturday night, Oct. 5th.

Additional Showcase Selections screening during the 2019 festival include the World Premiere of the segment A Samhain Liturgy from the upcoming sequel 10/31 Part II on Thursday night, Oct. 3rd, and the World Premiere of the first three episodes of the new Halloween anthology series Sharp Candy with creator/director Dylan R. Nix in attendance on Friday night, Oct. 4th.
