Michael Myers Stalks in New ‘Halloween Kills’ Image; New Director Comments
We’re now less than 10 months away from the return of Michael Myers in Halloween Kills , and a new image from the highly anticipated sequel was released today, along with new comments from director David Gordon Green on what we can expect this October.
Speaking with Total Film, Green says of Halloween Kills, “It’s about the creation of fear. It’s one thing to be afraid of the Bogeyman, to have someone who might be in the closet, under the bed, creeping around your house… But we wanted to explore next was confusion, misinformation, and paranoia. What happens when fear goes viral? You can’t just stick your head under the covers any more.”
“When we made the last one, we wanted to find a way for someone who’s never seen the original to get up to speed with the story,” he says. “But this one gets right to the action. It’s very aggressive. It’s more efficient. We wanted it to be an explosive middle before things get streamlined and personal again.”
HK has been rated “R” for what is described as “strong bloody violence throughout, grisly images, language, and some drug use.”
In addition to Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her iconic role as Laurie Strode, the cast includes Kyle Richards (read our interview here) reprising her 1978 role as Lindsey Wallace, Nancy Stephens reprising her 1978 role as Nurse Marion, Charles Cyphers reprising his 1978 role as Leigh Brackett, and Anthony Michael Hall, who will take over the role of Tommy Doyle from Brian Andrews, as well as Robert Longstreet as Lonnie Elam, and James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle continuing their collaboration as Michael Myers.
Also back from Halloween 2018 are Andi Matichak as Allyson, Judy Greer as Karen, and Dylan Arnold as Cameron Elam.
Directed by David Gordon Green from a script he co-wrote with Danny McBride and Scott Teems, Halloween Kills was filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina. John Carpenter returns as an executive producer and has performed the music for the film with his band mates Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies.
Halloween Kills will be released on October 15, 2021.
