General Mills Monster Cereals Uniting for Monster Mash this Halloween

The iconic General Mills Monster Cereals are all coming together for the first time to celebrate this year’s 50th anniversary with a new Monster Mash cereal that will be available in stores for the 2021 Halloween season.

All of the classic monster-based brands – Count Chocula, Franken Berry, Boo Berry, Yummy Mummy, and Fruit Brute – are joining forces for the mashup cereal, which celebrates the 50th birthday of the line’s launch with the Count Chocula and Franken Berry cereals back in 1971. Boo Berry followed in 1973, with Fruit Brute coming along in 1974 and Yummy Mummy in 1988.

Some combination of the cereals, mainly including Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo Berry, are now released annually for a limited time during Halloween season. Notably, the werewolf-themed Fruit Brute has not been released since 2013.

A mashup of all five of the Halloween cereals, the Monster Mash cereal is described as an “artificially berry flavored, frosted cereal with monster marshmallows.”

The retro packaging features the character’s classic designs to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Monster Cereals, and the new special edition box takes you to the Monster Cereals remake of the “Monster Mash” song, and a history of when all the monsters stepped onto the scene. (The original “Monster Mash” song by Bobby “Boris” Pickett and The Crypt Kickers was released in 1962.)

The new website MonsterMashCereal.com will go live with further details in the coming months, according to Cerealously.
