New Trailer for ‘The Suicide Squad’ Puts Superman in ICU
A new official trailer for the next installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) of connected movies, The Suicide Squad, was released this week, putting Idris Elba’s Bloodsport center stage, and revealing that he’s incarcerated for putting Superman in an ICU with kryptonite bullet.
Directed by James Gunn The Suicide Squad, is an R-rated requel to David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide Squad, serving a somewhat of a reboot while also being a sequel featuring returning actors reprising their roles from the first film, including Margot Robbie in her third film as Harley Quinn (following Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey), Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Viola Davis once again as Amanda Waller.
The new Squad members include Idris Elba as Bloodsport, John Cena as Peacemaker, Pete Davidson as Blackguard, David Dastmalchian (Batman: The Long Halloween Part 1 and Part 2) as Polka-Dot Man, Sean Gunn as Weasel, and Sylvester Stallone as the voice of King Shark.
The Suicide Squad will premiere in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6.
The film will have its world premiere at the 25th annual Fantasia International Film Festival, with an in-person screening on August 4 at Montreal’s historic Imperial Theater.
