Halloween Witch Movie ‘The Heretiks’ First Look, Plot Details Unveiled
The new Halloween-set, witch-themed horror movie The Heretiks just wrapped filming, as the first official images and new plot details have been unveiled.
Directed by Gregg Bishop (Dance of the Dead, Siren) and written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (Hulu’s Hellraiser remake, The Night House), the cast has been revealed to include newcomers Kimberly Epstein, Josie Wert, Ava Mae Seidensticker, Tess Williams, and Luke Speakman (Weapons), as first reported today by Deadline.
Described as “’80s-inspired”, in the film: “Cai (Epstein), a renegade witch, must protect sisters Ada (Wert) and Mabel (Seidensticker) and friend Wesley (Speakman) from her former coven, led by sadistic fanatic Neve (Williams), who seeks to bring about the end times by sacrificing Mabel on Halloween Night.”
Bishop tells Deadline, “I couldn’t be more proud of what this team pulled off. We set out to make a visceral, high-stakes Halloween horror experience, grounded in performance and built for a crowd, and I can’t wait to share it.”
Bleiberg Entertainment is producing, along with Bishop, Alexander Motlagh (The Signal), Brad Miska (Terrifier 3) for the first feature under his Be Afraid banner, and Chris White (A24’s Backrooms).
Filming recently wrapped in Bishop’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.
Bleiberg is handling sales and will premiere the first footage at the upcoming Cannes market next week.
