‘Scream 6’ Set Photos Suggest Halloween Setting

Scream 6 is currently filming in Montreal, Canada, and recent photos from the set suggest that the upcoming sequel may bring Ghostface back during Halloween.

After early photos from fans in the Montreal area surfaced online featuring vehicles with New York City designations visible, Bloody-Disgusting confirmed on June 12 that the new Scream movie will take place in New York City. Jenna Ortega then shared a photo reuniting with her onscreen sister Melissa Barrera on Instagram.

On June 13, Twitter user @britneyvinyl shared in image of pumpkins and a jack o’ lantern on a townhouse front porch on set, followed by another photo from @eric_chag of what appears to be some kind of Ghostface (Halloween?) decorations. You can see the photos below.

While none of the previous five Scream feature films have taken place on Halloween, the franchise has celebrated the holiday on the small screen. The two-part Season 2 finale of Scream: The TV Series (episodes officially titled “Halloween” and “Halloween II”) took place on Halloween, as did the first and third episodes of Season 3 (aka Scream: Resurrection; pictured above).

The official synopsis: The Scream saga continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.

Hayden Panettiere will make her return to the big screen as “Kirby Reed,” reprising her role from Scream 4 (2011), joining returning cast members Melissa Barrera (“Sam,”) Jasmin Savoy Brown (“Mindy,”) Mason Gooding (“Chad,”) and Jenna Ortega (“Tara”). Dermot Mulroney has also joined the cast, as well as ack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, and Josh Segarra.

Directing once again are Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Scream, Ready or Not), with James Vanderbilt (“Scream,” “Murder Mystery) and Guy Busick (Scream, Ready or Not) co-writing the screenplay. Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein, and William Sherak are serving as producers. Creator Kevin Williamson and the third member of Radio Silence, Chad Villella, are executive producing alongside Spyglass’ Gary Barber and Peter Oillataguerre, Ron Lynch, Cathy Konrad, and Marianne Maddalena.

Scream 6 (currently officially untitled) will arrive in theaters on March 31, 2023.
