‘Terrifier 2’ Hitting Theaters Then Streaming on Screambox Halloween 2022
The highly anticipated release of this year’s Halloween horror sequel Terrifier 2 is beginning to come into focus, with details announced today for a theatrical release this Halloween season to be followed by the film going exclusively to Bloody Disgusting’s streaming service Screambox.
Deadline reports that genre streaming platform Screambox have partnered with horror media brand Bloody Disgusting to acquire all North American rights to the now-completed Terrifier 2, described in this report as an “ultra-gory slasher.”
In addition to a number of prominent genre festival screenings this year and following a Nationwide theatrical release this Halloween season, the film will be streaming exclusively on the Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox.
Two new photos from the film have also been unveiled, which you can see below.
Writer/director Damien Leone tells Deadline, “Just like our incredible fan base, Bloody Disgusting immediately recognized the film’s franchise potential and acknowledged Art the Clown as a new and formidable presence in the genre. It was encouraging to find the perfect home for our batshit crazy, no holds barred, balls-to-the-wall horror film after three arduous years of production, a global pandemic and endless gallons of blood. Our goal was to create a horror film that was boundary-pushing, fresh yet old-school and demented as hell. You know…a film you can take the kids to! We are thrilled to finally answer that once dreaded question…’So, when does Terrifier 2 come out?!’”
UPDATE 4:20 pm ET: Bloody Disgusting editor in chief John Squired Tweeted about Terrifier 2, saying, “It’s a 2+ hour slasher epic and you are NOT ready for the mayhem Art is about to unleash!”, while Bloody Disgusting co-founder Brad Miska added, “#TERRIFIER2 is going to be one of the most talked about slashers in years. Get the fuck ready.”
The official synopsis for the sequel: After Art the Clown is resurrected by a sinister entity, he returns to the timid town of Miles County, where he targets a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween Night.
David Howard Thornton once again plays Art the Clown in Terrifier 2. The cast also includes Lauren LaVera as Sienna and Elliott Fullam as Sienna’s younger brother Jonathan, as well as Casey Hartnett as Allie, Kailey Hyman as Brooke, Sarah Voigt as Sienna’s mom Barbara, Samantha Scaffidi as Victoria, and our friends Tamara Glynn (Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers) and Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp). The film is written and directed by Damien Leone, who also serves as a producer.
Terrifier 2 will be released this Halloween season.
