Haunted Screams Expo 2023 Horror Convention Takes Over Hampton, Virginia

The 4th annual Haunted Screams Expo horror convention returns to Hampton, Virginia this month, bringing another killer lineup of special guest genre icons to this year’s event, in addition to all the other festivities that will effectively kick off the Halloween season for the region.

Celebrity guests announced to be appearing and meeting fans at Haunted Screams Expo 2023 include Oscar nominated makeup effects artist Alec Gillis (Prey, Alien vs. Predator, Godzilla vs. Kong); as well as the original Ghostface Lee Waddell of Scream (watch our interview here); Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives co-stars C.J. Graham, Darcy Demoss, and Tom Fridley; House of 1,000 Corpses co-stars Walter Phelan (Dr. Satan) and Robert Mukes (Rufus); plus America Olivo of Friday the 13th (2009); Brett Wagner, who played Leatherface in early scenes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003); Nick King, who played Bughuul in the Sinister films; Kyle Strauts (The Pedator, Prey); Pancho Moler (31, 3 From Hell, Candy Corn); and Jonathan Breck, who played The Creeper in three Jeepers Creepers films.

This year’s live special makeup FX contest will be judged by special guest Academy Award Nominee Alec Gillis, whose special effects work won the Oscar in for ‘Death Becomes Her’.Haunted Screams Expo is hosted by Laitram Tsol, an original horror character, and featured a walkthrough haunted house on site, dozens of artists and vendors, a makeup effects contest judged by Alec Gills, costume contests for kids and adults, Q&A panels, a monster movie car show featuring vehicles from iconic horror films and series, and more to be announced.

Fans attending at the 2023 Expo will also experience exclusive Q&A panel discussions, all ages costume contests,  monster movie vehicles from Jeepers Creepers, Ghostbusters, The Munsters, Supernatural, and more, plus an on-site haunted house. Tradition Brewing Company will also be on hand to debut their new Persnickety Witch Pumpkin Ale.

The entire event is hosted by Laitram Tsol, an original cosplay character created and portrayed by the Expo’s promoter.

Haunted Screams Expo takes place on September 16th and 17th at the Hampton Roads Convention Center in Hampton, Virginia. Vendor floor hours are 11am to 7pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.  Free parking is available for attendees, and concessions will be sold at the event, with discounted hotel rooms available at the Embassy Suites by Hilton, conveniently located in easy walking distance next door to the convention center.

Priced with adult single day tickets starting at just $30 ($40 at the door), tickets can be purchased in advance online at HauntedScreams.com and will be available at the door.
