‘Terrifier 3’ Returning Cast Confirmed, Filming Soon

After carving his way through Halloween in the last two movies, Art the Clown will slay Christmas in Terrifier 3 , and some familiar faces will be back to face him once again, as the main cast of next year’s highly anticipated sequel was officially confirmed today, along with some new comments from writer and director Damien Leone.

While it was expected, it is now official that David Howard Thornton (watch our interview here) and Lauren LaVera (watch our interview here) will both reprise their roles as Art the Clown and Sienna, respectively, in the new movie. They are joined by Elliott Fullam (watch our interview here), who played Sienna’s brother Jonathan in the previous film, as well as Samantha Scaffidi, making her third appearance, having portrayed Victoria Heyes in both prior Terrifier movies. Chris Jericho, who had a cameo during the credits of Terrifier 2, will also be in Terrifier 3.

The casting news was first reported by Deadline, which has a lengthy interview with Leone and LaVera, in which the director updates on when filming for T3 will begin. He said, “We are in pre-production right now. We’re going to start shooting in two months, beginning of February. So, we’re in the thick of it. We’re assembling our crew; we’re still casting; we’re getting locations in order; special effects are being created; and we’re still working on drafts. It could always be better and tighter: I never stop doing that all the way through production.”

In speaking about the returning characters, Leone also teases new ones we will meet in Terrifier 3, adding, “There are a few new major characters introduced in 3, one in particular that it’s too soon for me to announce.

While little is known of the actual plot beyond that Art the Clown will slash his way through Miles County this time on Christmas Eve, Leone reveals, “This one is going to pick up where Part 2 left off, in the insane asylum, so, you’re going to see what transpires there, what mayhem unfolds, because seeing how Art and Victoria ended up, is so insane, and seeing how they get out of that situation and what happens next is going to be really wild. So, we have to get Chris (Jericho) back in there and see how he becomes a part of that situation.”

When asked what his “touchstones for this franchise” are, Leone answers, “It would have to be all the slashers that I grew up obsessed with, in particular, the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre, probably Friday 13th, Part III and IV, and Nightmare on Elm Street, 1 and 3, and of course, Halloween. Halloween is my favorite, I would say, as a singular film, not necessarily the entire franchise. I think it’s the greatest slasher film ever made.

Leone also confirms that the new film will be released in theaters unrated, just like its predecessors.

Despite its Christmas setting, Terrifier 3 will open in theaters nationwide just before Halloween, on October 25, 2024, from Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting.
