New Halloween Slasher ‘Creeping Death’ Coming Fall 2024

A brand new Halloween slasher based on the ancient traditions of the holiday itself, Creeping Death is coming to Screambox, with its streaming premiere just announced for this fall.

Cineverse has acquired the feature film Creeping Death to be released as a Screambox exclusive this fall, as first reported by Fangoria, where the movie is described as “a callback to terrors birthed in the mythology and atmospheric dread behind the Halloween traditions based in an ancient Celtic past.”

The official synopsis: While trying to enjoy a peaceful Halloween with his mother, Tim is paid a visit by his rambunctious, up-for-anything friends. After reluctantly letting them inside the house he becomes intertwined with the circumstances of their Halloween prankings. One that turns out has broken a sacred tradition kept between humans and otherworldly deities known as the Aos Si.

Aos Si is a supernatural race in Celtic mythology—daoine sìth in Scottish Gaelic—comparable to fairies or elves. They are said to descend from the Tuatha Dé Danann, meaning the ‘People of Danu‘, according to pagan tradition, as stated by Wikipedia.

The film is written and directed by Matt Sampere, who also stars, along with Monique Parent (That’s A Wrap), Scott Lea (Dark Feathers), and Alan Maxson (Godzilla: King of the Monsters) as the vengeful spirit. It is produced by Sampere, Jason Scott Goldberg (Glorious), Erika McGowan, Brenda Block, and Tyler Dane Sutton.

The director said in a statement, “Since I was a kid, I’ve always loved slasher films and celebrating Halloween. I knew I wanted to dive into the holiday’s lore for my first feature, and that’s how I learned about the Aos Si — vengeful spirits related to trick or treating in Celtic mythology. Creeping Death is the first supernatural slasher to incorporate this deity. I hope viewers enjoy my love letter to Halloween, its traditions, and a warning to those who trick.”

Creeping Death will premiere on Screambox this fall.
