[Interview] Bonnie Aarons Talks ‘The Nun’ Success, Horror Fairy Tale ‘Ever After’, and Halloween
Bonnie Aarons became a horror icon with her terrifying portrayal of the demon Valak in The Conjuring Part 2 and then The Nun movies, an unforgettable breakout role and pivotal part of the phenomenal success of the franchise, now an undeniable part of pop culture, and we discussed it all recently, from being told early in her career that she’d never headline a movie to her latest project, playing the wicked Witch from Hansel & Gretel lore in the twisted fairy tale Ever After, and more.
In our video conversation last month, we also of course talked about Halloween and what it means to Aarons to see her Nun character become a Halloween costume staple for both adults and children.
In her latest film, Ever After: ” transforms the beloved characters of classic fairy tales into relentless killers in a suspense-filled survival nightmare, when a bachelorette weekend at a secluded forest lodge quickly descends into terror.”
Written and directed by Laszlo Illes, Aarons plays the Witch in the woods, along with co-stars Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes, The Devil’s Rejects) as the Huntsman, Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th VII-X, Hatchet) as the Big Bad Wolf, and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Halloween, Halloween II, 31) as the Frog King, and Mark Sheppard (Supernatural) as the Ringmaster.
Ever After is playing at AMC theaters starting Friday, September 4.
