Tommy Lee Wallace Writing Definitive ‘Halloween III’ Book

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the 1982 sequel Halloween III: Season of the Witch, easily the most controversial and divisive entry in the Halloween movie franchise, and to celebrate the milestone and the film’s recent reevaluation and finally being embraced by fans, writer and director Tommy Lee Wallace is currently writing a book to be released this fall, titled Halloween III: Where the Hell is Michael Myers? The Definitive History of Horror’s Most Misunderstood Film.

Wallace appeared on the most recent episode of The Thing with Two Heads, where he discussed many career highlights and provided an early preview of what we can expect in his upcoming book.

He said the book will include never-before-seen storyboards that Wallace drew for the film, and he promises to dive into all the differences in writer Nigel Kneale’s original script from Tommy’s eventual rewrite, among other new and revealing stories.

During the conversation with hosts Sean Clark (read our interview here) and Halloween, Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends makeup FX department head Christopher Nelson (read our interview here), Wallace confirmed that it is not in fact Jamie Lee Curtis’s voice heard over the Silver Shamrock loudspeakers throughout Santa Mira (despite popular but false fan belief), and that it was Wallace himself who wrote (and performed) the iconic Silver Shamrock jingle (to the tune of “London Bridge”).

When a fan asked something I’ve always wondered about H3, if it was ever considered adding a shot from Haddonfield in the trick or treating montage, Wallace answered that he never thought of it.

Wallace said in the interview that he anticipates the book will be released in time for this October’s 40th anniversary of the theatrical release of Halloween III.
