1986 Heavy Metal Halloween Classic ‘Trick or Treat’ Coming to 4K
Sammi Curr lives! Raise your horns and crank up the volume, because the 1986 heavy metal-fueled Halloween-infused horror classic Trick or Treat is finally getting its long overdue 4K release.
The new 4K Special Edition release will be loaded with new bonus content and is likely coming later this year from Red Shirt Pictures and Synapse Films, as revealed on The Spooky Picture Show podcast.
From the announcement: The cult classic film Trick Or Treat, originally released in 1986, is getting a new 4K restoration as part of a Ultra HD & Blu-ray Special Edition, with exclusive bonus content that will thrill both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Directed by Charles Martin Smith and starring Marc Price (Family Ties), Tony Fields, Gene Simmons of KISS fame, and metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, Trick Or Treat tells the story of a high school outcast named Eddie Weinbauer, who is obsessed with heavy metal music and his favorite rockstar, Sammi Curr. When Sammi dies in a hotel fire, Eddie discovers a mysterious unreleased record that Sammi made before his death. As Eddie plays the record backwards, he unwittingly unleashes the vengeful spirit of Sammi, who returns from the dead to wreak havoc on the town and its inhabitants.
This re-release of Trick Or Treat has been restored in 4K from the original camera negative, promising to bring the horror and heavy metal mayhem to life like never before.
In addition to the restored picture and sound, the package will also include exclusive bonus features, such as behind-the-scenes content, interviews with cast and crew, and more “content that will make your head bang with delight.”
Trick Or Treat will be available later this year, with specific release date information to be announced soon.
