‘For the Love of the Boogeyman’ Documentary Teaser Trailer Released

The U.K.-based website Bloody-Flicks recently announced plans to produce a new documentary, For the Love of the Boogeyman: 40 Years of Halloween, about the impact of John Carpenter’s 1978 classic, and an official teaser trailer has just been released.

The teaser features brief clips of a number of indie filmmakers, including P.J Starks (Volumes of Blood), Nathan Thomas Milliner (The Confession of Fred Krueger), Daniel Mark Young (For Her), James Plumb, and James Morissey, talking about the landmark film.

From the official announcement: This documentary is by fans and for the fans, chronicling why John Carpenter’s classic has stood the test of time.

Bringing together some of the brightest voices from independent horror we will explore what makes the film so special. From the music, the mask to Michael Myers, everyone has their own take on Halloween, and why it is the blueprint for slasher horror and in our humble opinion, has never been bettered.

Director Paul Downey has also secured permission from the great photographer Kim Gottlieb-Walker (read our interview here) to use images from her essential book On Set with John Carpenter for the documentary.

For the Love of the Boogeyman: 40 Years of Halloween will be released this fall.
