‘Haunted Mansion’ Trailer Brings Disney Ride To Life With Familiar Ghosts

Death lurks around every corner in the official full trailer for Disney’s new live-action Haunted Mansion movie, released online today, showcasing the all-star cast and featuring all your favorite ghosts from the iconic dark ride attraction at the Disney theme parks.

The film stars Rosario Dawson, Chase Dillon, LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, and Danny DeVito, along with Jamie Lee Curtis as Madame Leota and Jared Leto as the Hatbox Ghost. Winona Ryder, Dan Levy, and Hasan Minhaj will also appear in the movie.

The official synopsis: In this mysterious adventure, a doctor (Dawson) and her 9-year-old son (Dillon), looking to start a new life, move into a strangely affordable mansion in New Orleans, only to discover that the place is much more than they bargained for. Desperate for help, they contact a priest (Wilson), who, in turn, enlists the aid of a widowed scientist-turned failed-paranormal expert (Stanfield), a French Quarter psychic (Haddish) and a crotchety historian (DeVito).

Justin Simien (Dear White People, Bad Hair) directs the new live action adaptation of the popular theme park ride, from a script written by Katie Dippold (Ghostbusters 2016).

In a recent interview, Simien explained that this version of the Haunted Mansion is inspired directly by the Disneyland version, as each Disney park’s version of the ride differs in varying ways.

Disney’s Haunted Mansion opens in theaters on July 28.
