Post-Apocalyptic Halloween Movie ‘The Hallowarrior’ First Look, Details Revealed
Halloween never ends, even after the apocalypse in the new feature film The Hallowarrior, which promises to be one of the most unique Halloween movies ever.
This new post-apocalyptic horror thriller stars Milly Shapiro (Hereditary, Hysteria) as Pumpkin, “the last girl on Earth and sole survivor of a humanity-ending plague, scavenging the wasteland for supplies on the eve of Halloween. Pumpkin’s lonely holiday ritual is interrupted by the arrival of a savage gang of raiders at her doorstep, led by the fearsome Thalia (played by Shannyn Sossamon). Outnumbered and armed with candy, wit, and weapons, Pumpkin must ferociously fight back to survive the night,” as reported today by Variety, where a first-look image (below) was revealed, featuring a bloodied Pumpkin wearing a Halloween sweater.
The film is written and directed by debut feature filmmaker Ben Sottak, based on his proof of concept short Scavenger.
Clearly speaking our language, Sottak tells Variety, “This is a throwback to the crowd-pleasing genre films I grew up watching every Halloween. The movie is dripping with nostalgic fall atmosphere, cheer-inducing kills, and a lovable ‘final girl’ played by the brilliant Milly Shapiro. I can’t wait for this movie to enter horror fans’ annual October viewing rotation for years to come.”Â
Shannyn Sossamon (A Knight’s Tale, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Sinister 2) is an executive producer and co-stars in the film with Milly Shapiro, as well as Ajani Russell (Betty), and A.J. Bowen (The Sacrament, You’re Next).
The movie is produced by Emmajane Hoffman and Ben Sottak, launching their new production company Strange Aeons, and Gabriel Rosenstein (A Nightmare Wakes) for The Spitting Image, as well as Danielle Benedict (Hell Is Empty) and Jake Casey (Monsterland) for The Dazey Phase, and Cinetic’s Alec Ring as executive producer.
Production has just wrapped in Syracuse, N.Y.
Cinetic is handling North American rights, while Architect has pre-sold the movie and is handling international sales.
