Tim Burton’s ‘Wednesday’ Official Trailer Paints It Black

The Addams Family is back in the upcoming Tim Burton-directed Netflix series Wednesday, and the full official trailer was released online this evening, following a panel at New York Comic Con, revealing that Fred Armisen plays Uncle Fester and giving us our first look at Christina Ricci as Ms. Thornhill.

Jenna Ortega stars as the title character, along with Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzman as Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley.

According to an updated synopsis: After she’s expelled from her “normal” human high school over an incident involving piranhas (yes, you read that correctly), Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) is sent away to Nevermore Academy, a school for, shall we say, unique students. What she discovers there is a tantalizing, bloody murder mystery — and maybe, just maybe, a few friends as odd as she is.

Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) plays school administrator Larissa Weems, and Christina Ricci (who played Wednesday in the ’90s Addams Family films) plays Nevermore dorm mom Marilyn Thornhill. Fred Armisen takes on the role of Wednesday’s uncle Fester.

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville) are the writers and showrunners, while several episodes of the series are directed by Tim Burton (Batman, Batman Returns, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow).

Wednesday premieres on Netflix on November 23.
