Adam Sandler to Star in Netflix Comedy ‘Hubie Halloween’

Netflix is getting into the spirit this year with the new comedy Hubie Halloween, starring and produced by Adam Sandler and set in Salem, Massachusetts during the most wonderful time of the year.

This will be Sandler’s sixth film for Netflix, following this month’s action comedy Murder Mystery, with Jennifer Aniston.

The synopsis, according to Observer: Good-natured but eccentric community volunteer Hubie Dubois (Sandler) finds himself at the center of a real murder case on Halloween night. Despite his devotion to his hometown of Salem, Massachusetts (and its legendary Halloween celebration), Hubie is a figure of mockery for kids and adults alike. But this year, something really is going bump in the night, and it’s up to Hubie to save Halloween.

Steven Brill, who has previously helmed Sandler’s Little Nicky, Mr. Deeds, The Do-Over, and Sandy Wexler, will direct from a script written by Sandler and longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy. Sandler’s company, Happy Madison, will produce alongside Netflix.

The production is scheduled to begin filming on July 8 near Boston, Mass. An open casting call will be held this Saturday, June 8, at Marblehead, Mass. for paid extras from ages 5 and up in all shapes and sizes. According to a flyer for the event, anyone who is interested but cannot make the casting call is asked to email a current photo, contact information, height, and weight, and a description of their car, including color, make and model, to [email protected].

We anticipate that Netflix has an eye on premiering Hubie Halloween this October.
