‘Hubie Halloween’ Nominated for Two 2021 Kids’ Choice Awards

Adam Sandler’s all-star comedy hit Hubie Halloween was Netflix’s most popular original movie of 2020 in the U.S. and now it is nominated for two Kids’ Choice Awards.

The 2021 Kids’ Choice Awards nominations were announced yesterday (2/2/21), with Hubie Halloween nominated for Favorite Movie (along with Dolittle, Hamilton, Mulan, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Wonder Woman 1984) and Adam Sandler nominated for Favorite Movie Actor (along with Jim Carrey for Sonic the Hedgehog, Robert Downey Jr. for Dolittle, Will Ferrell for Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, Lin-Manuel Miranda for Hamilton, and Chris Pine for Wonder Woman 1984).

Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2021 will simulcast across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, and the Nick Jr. channel live on Saturday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT. Fans can cast votes now on Twitter and at KidsChoiceAwards.com, and also on the Screens Up app on supported iPad, iPhone, and Android devices in the U.S.

Hubie Halloween was the top-ranked movie of 2020 on Netflix for the United States, and it finished in second place for the year internationally, behind only the Polish drama 365 Days. After its premiere in October, Hubie Halloween became just the second movie to ever spend 14 consecutive days at the top of Netflix’s Daily Top 10 list, second place on the all-time list, falling just short of Spenser Confidential’s current record-holding 18-day streak in the #1 spot.

In addition to Sandler, the cast also includes Julie Bowen, Kevin James, Rob Schneider, Maya Rudolph, Ray Liotta, Michael Chiklis, Kenan Thompson, Steve Buscemi, China Anne McClain, Paris Berelc, Peyton List, Tim Meadows, Colin Quinn, June Squibb, Shaquille O’Neal, Karan Brar, Noah Schnapp (Stranger Things), Mikey Day, Melissa Villaseñor, Kym Whitley, Lavell Crawford, Betsy Sodaro, George Wallace, and Blake Clark.

In the film, Good-natured but eccentric community volunteer Hubie Dubois (Sandler) finds himself at the center of a real murder case on Halloween night. Despite his devotion to his hometown of Salem, Massachusetts (and its legendary Halloween celebration), Hubie is a figure of mockery for kids and adults alike. But this year, something really is going bump in the night, and it’s up to Hubie to save Halloween.

Hubie was filmed on location in and around Salem.

Steve Brill (Little Nicky, Mr. Deeds, The Do-Over, Sandy Wexler) directed from a screenplay by Sandler and Tim Herlihy for the Happy Madison and Netflix.

Hubie Halloween is streaming now on Netflix.
