Sarah Jessica Parker Comments on ‘Hocus Pocus 2’; Test Screening Gets Positive Reaction

Attending the recent Met Gala, where high fashion often looks more like Halloween costumes, Sarah Jessica Parker was inevitably asked about this year’s highly anticipated sequel Hocus Pocus 2, responding with a few brief comments and teasing a new musical number by the Sanderson Sisters.

When asked for some information about the sequel, Parker answered simply, “We’re back,” before adding, “They (the Sanderson sisters) think they’ve won this time.” She also reveals, “They still enjoy a musical number.”

The first test screening of Hocus Pocus 2 took place this week, and reactions are reportedly positive.

Parker is of course one of the legacy cast members returning for the new sequel, reuniting with Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy to reprise their roles as Sarah, Winnifred, and Mary Sanderson, respectively, witches from the 1600s resurrected in modern day Salem, Mass.

The cast also includes Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo, Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, Hannah Waddingham, Juju Brener, Froy Gutierrez, Taylor Henderson, Nina Kitchen, and Doug Jones also reprising his legacy character, Billy Butcherson, from the original film.

Anne Fletcher (The Guilt Trip, 27 Dresses) directs the sequel, produced by Lynn Leshem and executive produced by Adam Shankman, from a script by Jen D’Angelo (Workaholics).

An early synopsis for the sequel explains: Three young women accidentally bring the Sanderson Sisters back to modern day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on the world.

Hocus Pocus 2 will be released for Halloween 2022 on Disney+.
