[Interview] Andy Fickman Talks Real Events Behind ‘Don’t Turn Out the Lights’, and Halloween

The new horror movie Don’t Turn Out the Lights arrives on digital this week, and we recently talked to writer, producer, and director Andy Fickman about the real life unexplained events in his life that inspired him to make the film, as well as his horror genre influences, and more.

In the film, reuniting for an unforgettable weekend, a group of high school friends takes a break from their separate lives at college to travel by RV to a musical festival. Their exciting weekend plans quickly unravel as they find themselves fighting to survive each other and the unknown.

Written and directed by Andy Fickman (Race to Witch Mountain, She’s the Man), the cast includes Bella DeLong, Amber Janea, Ana Luz Zambrana, John Bucy, Crystal Lake Evans,  Jarrett Austin Brown, and Daryl Tofa.

In our video conversation last week, we of course also talked about Halloween, as Andy expressed his passion equally for the holiday and for the Michael Myers movie franchise, even proudly showing off his Funko Michael with the Myers House collectible.

Don’t Turn Out the Lights will be released on VOD this Friday, September 6.
