‘Scream 7’ Comes Home on 4K Steelbook

Scream 7 comes  home on physical media today, including on 4K Ultra HD in a limited edition steelbook, and we were sent an advance copy of the latest Ghostface sequel to preview for you.

The physical release includes a total of six deleted scenes, but the one we all want to see most – a final shot intended for after the credits of Stu Macher in fact alive and watching a news report about the events of the film on TV that is now confirmed to have been filmed – is sadly not among them. In this case, the deleted scenes that are included offer very little and were wisely cut.

Additional bonus features include three behind the scenes featurettes, the best  of which is the 22-minute “Scar Tissue: The Making of Scream 7“, in which director and original franchise writer Kevin Williamson recalls first seeing John Carpenter’s Halloween in a theater as the moment he fell in love with horror. The mini documentary also reveals that it was actually Neve Campbell herself who personally asked Williamson to direct the film.

Additional featurettes include the 8-minute “Building Tension: Production Design”, and the 7-minute “Dance of Death: Stunts”, with a welcome and informative focus on the stunt performers, including the newest man behind the Ghostface mask, Jeremy Conner.

The official music video for the Ice Nine Kills Scream 7 soundtrack song “Twisting the Knife“, featuring the film’s McKenna Grace both on the track and in the video, is also included.

Unfortunately, there is no feature commentary track with director Kevin Williamson or anyone included on the 4K.

The official synopsis for Scream 7: When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.

The new Ghostface sequel brings back Neve Campbell reprising her role as Sidney Prescott (now Sidney Evans), as well as Courteney Cox as Gail Weathers, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin, and Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin, along with new blood Isobel May as Sydney’s daughter, Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire), Sam Rechner (The Fabelmans), Asa Germann (The Boys), Mark Consuelos, and Anna Camp (Hysteria, True Blood).

Two former Ghostface killers, Matthew Lillard from the original Scream and Scott Foley from Scream 3 are also in the film. Lillard of course played Stu Macher in the first Scream, revealed to be one of the two original Ghostface killers before he was seemingly killed, and the actor has made no secret in recent years of his desire to return to the role and his belief that Stu somehow survived. Foley played Sydney’s half-brother Roman in Scream 3.

Roger L. Jackson once again is the voice of Ghostface.

Franchise creator Kevin Williamson (writer of Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 4) returns to direct the new movie, from a script by Guy Busick, who also co-wrote 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI.

Scream 7 is out now on 4K Limited Edition Steelbook, as well as 4K Ultra HD, and DVD.
