‘Chucky’ Comes Out to Play on Halloween in New Trailer
A brand new official trailer for USA and SyFy’s upcoming Chucky TV series just dropped, and the iconic Child’s Play killer has never looked better, as the promo teases more of the show being set on and around Halloween.
You’ll remember that the first trailer opened with the narration, “Everyone has a Halloween they’ll always remember, and this is Jake’s,” confirming the Halloween setting.
This new trailer again begins with a character stating, “It’s October 31st,” before continuing, “Hackensack is haven for the bizarre, the F’d up, and the straight-up criminally insane. Historically speaking, the violence in our fair city has always spiked on Halloween.”
The trailer then goes on to reveal a bit more of the plot of the film, that will have the spirit of Charles Lee Ray possess not only the familiar Good Guys doll, but also Nica Pierce, from Curse of Chucky and who was left herself possessed by Ray at the end of Cult of Chucky, once again allowing Fiona Dourif to perform as Chucky, who has always been voiced by her dad, Brand Dourif.
The show appears be a total love letter to longtime Child’s Play franchise fans, with franchise creator Don Mancini at the helm and all of the most beloved actors from the previous films reprising their roles. Brad Dourif is back as Chucky, along with Jennifer Tilly back as Tiffany from Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky, as well as Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay from Child’s Play and Child’s Play 2, Christine Elise as Kyle from Child’s Play 2, and Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce from Course of Chucky and Cult of Chucky. Devon Sawa (Idle Hands, Final Destination) also stars, joining the franchise, along with Zackary Aruther, Lexa Doig, Bjorgvin Arnarson, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Teo Briones.
The series picks up after the events in 2017’s Cult of Chucky, and it promises to reveal more about Charles Lee Ray’s history before his soul was trapped in a Good Guy doll.
The 15-minute “Legacy of Chucky” featurette, which you can watch below, premiered today during San Diego Comic-Con’s Comic-Con@Home online event on YouTube, featuring all of the above cast members and Mancini discussing how this new series will respect and reward fans of the films.
Chucky premieres on October 12 on USA and SyFy.
